Volkswagen Fleet Services run a series of assessment centres throughout the year to establish who is the best Fleet Sales Manager and Fleet Sales Excecutive of the year.

This annual awards evening brings all finalists together for the announcement of the winners. Each year VW select a venue to suit the status of the awards and for December 2007 the exclusive Grove Hotel in Watford was the chosen venue.

Pyramid were contracted to provide all Production Management and Technical Support for this event and needed to come up with a plan that would work within the confines of the venues main function room and create the right ambience for all guests

Due to the Christmas booking schedule the room was not availble until 2am on the morning of the awards and with vehicle restrictions through the night into the venue it proved a challenge to get everything in and set ready for lunchtime rehearsals the same day

Due to the ceiling height, pillars, and general room dimensions the design included the use of a truss system that could be flown from the in house points without causing too many sightline problems. The nature of the evening is for a smooth transition from the formal proceedings into the party element and therefore a removable screen was installed to allow for presentations during the awards with the band set up behind. This screen would then be rolled away for the entertainment to start. A number of 60 inch plasmas were used around the room to relay a live camera feed of the stage events.

Following the serving of dinner and the announcement of the overall winners the entertainment commenced with Heather Small walking through the room and performing her set. A quick turn around led into the party band Lovetrain who continued to entertain the guests through to the close.

As quickly as the room was set up it had to be returned to its former state for a wedding the next day! This was acheived within 4 hours and a very tired crew went away to sleep!

Volkswagen Fleet Services were delighted with the planning and running of the whole event and have since contracted Pyramid for technical support for a number of their other events during 2008.
