ITV HD Preview Room
Pyramid were brought onboard by ITV as specialist AV consultants to specify the equipment required to faciltate their new HD preview room.
The 14th Floor room at the London Studios was previously home to ITV's Boardroom before it's move to Greys Inn Road, and the equipment being used was outdated and malfunctioning.
Our brief was to provide a facility that not only could be used for ITV's own preview needs, but other broadcasters such as the BBC could use this facility. It also doubled as a function space, and therefore had a multi-purpose role.
We designed a system that would provide a simple control interface for users that enabled them to configure the room without technical support, and access a range of room formats. We chose RTi's T2C wireless controller as the front end controller, which was becoming consistent across a number of meeting spaces and systems within the London offices.
The main components of the system consisted of a Projection Design F3+ DLP unit, a Stewart Greyhawk front surface screen, 7.1 audio reproduction from Sonance Ultra THX speakers and subs, switching from an Analogue Way Octovue +, and audio DSP from an Allen & Heath iDR8.
Completing the installation was blind and lighting integration, as well as a substantial patch bay providing tie lines for digital video, vga and audio into the room. Finally, there was seperate bar music playback and control.
