Pyramid used its broad range of expertise coupled with our extensive local knowledge to assist Ellen Macarther�s Event Team from Offshore Challenges providing various production and event services throughout the week leading up to the race launch.

Artemis Transat Race 2008

The 2008 edition of this prestigious race was preceded with a weeks worth of festivities which were centred around an International Race Village in the very heart of Plymouth's maritime centre, The historic Barbican.

Client Response:

The Artemis Transat 2008 single-handed yacht race started from Plymouth in May 2008. As the organisers of this major sporting event, the team at OC Events needed significant logistical, technical and organisational support locally. Pyramid Presentations acted as a one-stop shop for all these varied requirements.......including managing our a-v, producing last-minute event branding, and providing people that could help us in a number of different areas of our race village. Their involvement in the event was totally reassuring for all of us, and we are looking forward to the opportunity to work with them again at future OC events.

The sensitively lit fleet of racing yachts and tall ship centre piece provided a truly spectacular backdrop for corporate guests and the general public alike, whilst the corporate marquee and educational areas were revamped dressed and lit, providing a slick finishing touch to the week's events. As always, there was a high emphasis upon health and safety working practices, with an estimated 35,000 visitors passing through the Race Village over the weekend.

This weekend has been the birth of something that this City has needed for a very long time. It has surpassed my wildest expectations.

In the short amount of time allotted, Pyramid maximised the historic Barbican setting by designing and managing the following services within The Race Village:

Barbican Race Village

Install of external rigging and lighting for quay-side racing yachts

Lighting design and on deck installation upon The 150ft Tall Ship, The Earl of Pembroke.

Event management

Install of all AV equipment including technical support

Press Conference & Launch

Corporate Hospitality Marquee

Lighting for all external walls of the solid marquee structure.

Internal set design and build for Reception area.

Ambient internal lighting and audio installation

Education Marquee

Design and recondition of interactive exhibition stand.
