Home Cinema Projectors
What types are there?
There are three types of home cinema projector technologies, and two supported types of video signals;
DLP/DMDby Texas Instruments is favoured by many by providing high resolution and great contrast. DLP uses fast moving colour wheels which can be uncomfortable for some viewers.
D-ILAby JVC produces smooth film-like images that are notable for their high contrast and deep black levels showing minimal loss of detail. High resolutions are possible with this technology and looks great with HDTV signals. No colour wheels are used with this technology.
LCD- this is the most cost effective option, and differs from the above as it passes light through each set of pixels, which in turn can allow higher brightnesses but to the detriment of colour saturation and contrast.
What's best for me?
Quite simply, each option comes with it's own set of considerations, ranging from budget issues to physical aesthetics.
