AV Awards Winners
Winners of the Grand Prix Prize and Consumer Installation of the Year Award!
The 'AV Awards' are recognised as the Industry Awards for all those involved in the supply, integration and design of Audio Visual Systems in the UK and Ireland; and the glittering event is organised by AV Magazine.
We entered our work for 'ExplorOcean' at the National Marine Aquarium, which opened in March 2006, into the 'Consumer Installation of the Year' category, and won!
The biggest surprise of the night was that our work was also singled out in the User Grand Prix Awards, judged from the 17 category winners.
ExplorOcean was recognised as the 'AV Project of the Year', and as such deemed the 'best of the best'!
The User Grand Prix is given to a project showing documented results and the application of a-v technology to a client's needs. ExplorOcean more than satisfied both criteria, as well as displaying innovation and providing real value to the client and visitors.
Pyramid's use of technology to control and manage the 'one off' interactive exhibits and the way in which it both produced and installed the exhibits - a process involving 'inventiveness, application and manufacture within the same team' - was reflected in the comments of both the client and the judges."
In deciding on the winners, the panel of Judges who are industry representatives, said;
"The scale and scope of the ExplorOcean install, and the way it used technology to involve the audience and promote interest in an academic subject without diluting or dumbing down the NMA's message, won the most praise from the judges.

Pyramid attended the Awards already proud to have been recognised as short-listed finalists in our category. To walk away with the biggest prize of the night is a fantastic achievement.
The ExplorOcean project spanned 10 months, and was a contract won through a national tender process.
Pyramid were responsible for over half of the exhibition fit out, including the Aquatheatre tank systems, Seabed Futures, Climate News, the external Energy from the Seabed exhibit, plus the general and effects lighting and sound systems, gallery display equipment and other associated works.
